– Sports Minister warns SLFA Executive, members

February 2, 2015 By Sahr Morris Jr.

Minister of Sports, Paul Kamara, has issued a stern warning to both the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) executive led by Madam Isha Johansen and the association’s members to quotstay calm and respect the orders of President Ernest Bai Koromaquot.

The minister’s caution to both parties came just a day after President Koroma – at a binary meeting at State House last week – resolved the long drawn dispute between the Isha Johansen executive and the football stakeholders, urging them to stage an extra-ordinary congress on April 16-17.

Minister Kamara, in his signed January 28, 2015 press release, urged both rival parties to suspend all football activates until after the planned April 16-17 congress.

The release reads: quotHis Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, in his capacity as the President of the National Sports Council, has intervened in order to resolve the prevailing impasse in the SLFA by urging that an extra-ordinary congress on the association be held on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 April 2015.

quotThe SLFA executive and members are therefore required to adhere to the above in order to resolve the impasse in the association by suspending all football activities until after the congress.quot
