Ambassador Timbo Takes Leave of President Koroma

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, designate to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Alpha Seray Timbo on Tuesday 19thAugust took formal leave of His Excellency President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at State House.
Presenting the delegation to President Koroma, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Samura Kamara said Ambassador Timbo has over the years been with the President onto the point of his appointment as the Republic of Sierra Leone’s Ambassador designate to UAE.
Dr. Kamara disclosed that Ambassador Timbo has received detailed induction along with his diplomatic staff before departure to their duty station.
President Koroma in response told Ambassador Timbo that he is not only going to UAE to facilitate trade and investment, but also to borrow a leaf from their experience and see how Sierra Leone can adopt similar policies and measures that will help transform the country, adding that over the period the UAE has transformed itself to an international economic hub. In this regard, the President assured Ambassador Timbo of government’s fullest support.
The President in his desire to transform the country underscored the need to get out of dependency and transform into a country that will sit down on equal terms with others.
Ambassador Seray Timbo expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to President Koroma for giving him the opportunity to serve in a resident capacity as the Republic of Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the UAE, a task he referred to as more intense than that of his previous role as a special envoy to the UAE and the JCC countries. He promised to make meaningful use of his experience and familiarities gathered over the past years of engagement in the region.
Ambassador Seray Timbo further stated that his team will endeavour to project Sierra Leone not only as an influential player on the international arena but to also create opportunity for trade and investment in order to improve the quality of life of the people of Sierra Leone.
“I want to reassure you your Excellency of my commitment and determination to take the relationship between our country and the UAE to a much higher and mutually beneficial level, engagement and interaction,” he vowed.
As he prepares to assume duty in Abu Dhabi in the coming days, Ambassador Timbo sincerely pledged his commitment to live up to the expectations of President Koroma, noting that his appointment to the UAE is a clear manifestation of the confidence the President continues to have in him.
Ambassador Timbo also vowed to explore every avenue for resource mobilization to facilitate the full implementation of the Agenda for Prosperity. He also used the opportunity to invoke the divine intervention of God in the fight against the Ebola outbreak in the country.
