At Court Martial Prosecutor Battles ‘Mysterious Attack’

The court martial trial of 13 alleged military mutineers was yesterday put on hold and adjourned until 6 February because lead prosecutor, Gerard Soyei, was battling with an alleged mysterious attack.

According to Soyei, the said attack started last Saturday when he returned home after he bought some food from a nearby restaurant.

“I thought I have been poisoned because I started feeling so upset after eating the food from the restaurant. I just managed to report for trial this morning but could not withstand it,” he told Concord Times yesterday.

Soyei has been the lead prosecutor in the trial of the alleged mutinous soldiers.

In making his case against the soldiers, he succeeded in convincing Judge Aocate Atto During that 13 of the 14 soldiers have a case to answer, although 9th accused, Corporal Gibao Kamara, was acquitted and discharged.

The defence is now left with the burden to prove the innocence of the 13 accused persons, with four of them having already testified and presented alibis which have been corroborated by defence witnesses.
