Guinean President to Pay Solidarity Visit to Sierra Leone

President of the Republic of Guinea and Chairman of the Authority of the Mano River Union, Professor Alpha Conde will this afternoon (Tuesday 10 February) pay a one day working and friendly visit to both Monrovia and Freetown to coordinate efforts toward the fight against the Ebola epidemic that has hamstrung socio-economic activities in the three worst-hit countries of Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.

During the visit, the two leaders will exchange views on specific issues based on common interest to both countries.

It is worthy to note that Guinea and Sierra Leone are two sister republics that share common land and maritime borders. The two countries belong to the same sub-region and have cultural ties with huge commercial activities.

Due to proximity and countless cross-border interactions between both countries, the Ebola virus disease (EVD) which started in Guinea and subsequently engulfed Liberia and Sierra Leone, has claimed many lives, as well as negative socio-economic ramifications.

It would be recalled that a company in Guinea donated the sum of USD$ 20, 000 100 beds 5 (7) KVA generators and five (5) cold rooms to bolster the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone.

Stay tuned for more details on this.
