Man, 54, Remanded for Unlawful Possess of EDSA Meters

Presiding magistrate at the Pademba Road Magistrates’ Court No.2, Mr. Mohamed Seray-Wurie, yesterday sent on remand Alfred Sawyer, 54, after his arraignment on unlawful possession of five meters belonging to Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).

The accused person was charged with two counts of impersonation contrary to section 3 of Cap 34 as amended by section 3 of Act No.13 of 1975, and to unlawful possession of EDSA meters contrary to section 5 of Act No.6 of 1981.

According to Police Prosecutor, Sergeant 5115 Kpundeh M., the accused, with intent to defraud, impersonated as a staff of EDSA at Grassfield, Lumley, on February 5.

He said the accused to caught on the said date with five house service meters and four consumer light bills bearing the names of various individuals, which he is suspected to have unlawfully obtained.

The accused was remanded after the magistrate upheld the prosecution’s objection to bail. The matter continues on February 17, 2015.
