Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, welcomed, at Ain-el-Tineh on Saturday, Foreign Minister of Congo-Brazzaville, Jean-Claude Gakosso, and a delegation of Lebanese expatriates, with talks featuring high on the bilateral ties and the role of the Lebanese Diaspora.

"We are here delegated by the President of the republic, and it is normal that we visit Speaker Berri to discuss the means to bolster relations between our countries," Gakosso told reporters following the meeting.

"[Berri] informed us of the situation in Lebanon and the region, in addition to the role that he can play as to consolidating stability and security," he said.

"We tackled the economic, political, and diplomatic ties between the two countries, as well as between Lebanon and Africa in general," he added.

Moreover, Gakosso hailed the role assumed by the Lebanese Diaspora in Africa.

He also revealed that preparations for a Lebanon visit by the President of Congo-Brazzaville were in the offing.

Separately, Berri welcomed a delegation of the southern town of Hanine.
