The Ethiopian Agricultural Business Corporation said it was established with a view to modernizing the agricultural sector by carrying out capacity building activities. The Corporation comprises five enterprises which are working on agricultural productivity without proper coordination.

Briefing journalists yesterday, Corporate Chief Executive Kefyalew Birhanu said that the coordination established among Enterprises enable businesses to flourish utilizing skilled manpower and improved technology. It will also build their financial and technological capacity, he added.

According to him, the Corporation was established with 2.4 billion Birr to undertake the preparation of farmland designs, irrigation works, producing agricultural tools, breeding seeds, and providing agricultural inputs. It would stabilize agricultural markets through facilitating new techniques for huge and small farms.

Kefyalew also said that the Corporation will prepare its five-year strategic plan, and create an enabling environment for the country to be self-reliant in food security. As the Corporation was established two months back, it runs its chores with an initial capital of 610 million Birr.
