Nigeria’s Economic Growth Under Tinubu Signals Progress, Says SGF


Abuja: The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, has voiced optimism regarding Nigeria’s future, emphasizing the nation’s economic growth under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. Speaking at the official inauguration and investiture of the Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly (NOCRELA) in Abuja, Akume highlighted the country’s economic indicators as signs of progress.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Akume pointed to Nigeria’s increasing GDP, which is currently growing at a rate of 4.4%, and the rise in foreign reserves, now standing at 42 billion dollars, as evidence of the country’s advancement. He underscored the importance of cooperation among Nigerians, noting President Tinubu’s ability to unite people from diverse faiths and backgrounds. Akume reiterated his message from Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary, asserting that the country is progressing towards its goals and nearing the “Promised Land.”



Akume commended the organizers of the event for their dedication to creating a platform where Christian leaders can play a crucial role in nation-building, peace, and development. He stressed the importance of unity and collaboration among different groups to achieve national development and emphasized the government’s recognition of spiritual leadership in shaping societal values.



The National Chairman of NOCRELA, Archbishop JohnPraise Daniel, highlighted the assembly’s mission to unify Christian leaders in northern Nigeria and promote progress. He praised the government’s efforts to foster inclusivity in appointments and addressed concerns of marginalization by acknowledging the current administration’s actions that have allayed these fears.



Prof. Suleiman Bogoro, former Executive Secretary of TETFund and Grand Patron of NOCRELA, emphasized the assembly’s role as a platform for northern Christians to express themselves and promote peace and unity. He called for collective efforts to tackle insecurity and foster collaboration among different groups, highlighting the role of northern Christians in promoting stability in the region.



The new NOCRELA officials, including Bishop Daniel as National Chairman and Rev. Simon Dolly as Secretary General, were encouraged to serve as ambassadors of the Christian faith while fulfilling their duties.
