Rise in TB deaths another fallout from the pandemic, WHO report reveals

Tuberculosis (TB) deaths and infections rose during the COVID-19 pandemic, which disrupted access to treatment and support services, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported on Thursday. An estimated 10.6 million people fell ill with TB last year, an increase of 4.5 per cent over 2020, and 1.6 million people died from the disease, including 187,000 who were HIV-positive. MSF Warns of Measles, Cholera Outbreaks at Kenya Refugee Complex

The charity Doctors Without Borders said Thursday that Kenya’s Dadaab Refugee Complex faces a high risk of measles and cholera outbreaks as thousands of new refugees arrive from areas of Somalia where the diseases are circulating.   More than 233,000 refugees live in three overcrowded camps in the complex.   Doctors Without Borders, best known by its French acronym MSF, reported a sharp rise since January in the number of people fleeing to Kenya to escape drought, hunger and violence.   Many of the new arrivals are from southern Somalia, where measles and cholera outbreaks recently have occurred, the charity

Canadian Parliament Urges Government to Accept 10,000 Uyghur Refugees
